today we saw this Phönix roebelinii in Discounter for 19.95 usda.

Sabine spotted them immediately and bought one immediately, as there were only two. 

i was surprised and speechless at the same time 

It is 107cm / 3ft 42inch high.

it was kind of surreal and I was surprised while Sabine was acting and I'm grateful for that.

yes Dave, that was also a thought of mine later, and Sabine also told me that the last Phönix roebelinii was also taken by a woman around 30 years old who was beaming all over her face and grinning

You got the bargain of the week there. I purchased these ones 25 years ago ten aus dollars each about the same size as yours. The nursery had them out the front marked as clearance sale, I even used to work in that nursery and the owner said you know your getting a bargain and that was 25 years ago when they were so popular. Deal of the century for one like that in your country.

What is this white powder on top for (perhaps ant deterrent)? I do not have to buy robs anymore. I have discovered that fertile seeds from my mature one can germinate readily in nature and resulted seedlings grow rather fast, if not removed from the their original spot of sprouting.

this is white sand and we also have small ants, they are harmless 😁
