I purchased 100 Pinanga ponapea and for the life of me i cannot find any information or anything about them. Is there a Pinanga ponapea palm variety, because I can’t find anything on them.

Had a quick look Richard...doesn’t seem to exist.

Ponapea is a seperate genus, and there's Clinostigma ponapense...the link below might give you some clues. Ponapea refers to the island of Pohnpei in Micronesia I think.

Might be worth asking them Richard. There’s probably a history of where the palm came from. Seems like there’s a lot of palms up in FNQ which are described as the were collected by enthusiast from habitat a while back and have since created the next generation in Aus.

Yes worth a try, there is ponapea hentyi so the word ponapea is some hope of it being a palm. Just exactly what palm species I have is a guess. I might have to send them email to sort the situation out.

They said

“Yes, the Pinanga ponapea is a species cultivated by a local grower. There's nothing online about it.”

at the very least it should be Pinanga sp. Ponapea as there is no such thing as the former spelt in species form. Sometimes getting this mere fact across is difficult.

seedlings look like coronata but time will tell

I have Ponapea ledermanniana but I assume you already know of that
