Here is a small Atrovirens I just planted this past weekend here in Oakland, CA. I have it underneath a king palm and a Kentia palm for full shade all day. Here's hoping it settles in and does well!

Greetings do you have an update on your atrovirens. Thanks

@peachy I was not going to let this one  pass this time, I regretted not purchasing it last year, well this year it was up for grabs and grab I did! It was even in flower so there  may be hope a seed or two if the palm gods are watching!

Glad you snapped up such a great specimen on offer. Good size and color, plus an inflorescence to boot. It’s obviously doing well as a potted plant and could live a long time in a container.

I missed out last year and kicked myself for not buying it, not this time the wallet came out immediately. I think $600 was a great deal and in flower, I know what it takes in years  and time to grow such a beautiful plant. A good investment I don’t think it will go in the ground as of yet, I have another 3 of them so will try one of those a bit later and see how it goes, not the cold but water issue not wanting to kill it in a drought!

Hello,

Unfortunately this atrovirens has died away (it never looked as solid as I would have wanted but I only had access to two palms from the internet).

I plan to get more Geonoma's into the garden as soon as I can get my dirty little hands on them!

Good luck with yours and talk to you soon!

Thanks, from what I can gather they love water and the slightest sign of no water they die. Good luck finding them they are rare!!!!

Looking so nice recently.

With winter approaching, fingers crossed for this one. It’s the hot dry low humidity that they dislike!

With three small ones next to the big one they have something to aspire too.
