Thank you.  I remember reading your thread that many many moons ago people wanted to rip Sabals out and they weren't desirable but I will tell you there is a huge demand for this genus.  They're an incredible palm and we need a LOT more of them, and in more northern zones!!!!  Tough as nails for the most part.

You're welcome. Back in the day the only palms most people condescended to acknowledge were from Madagascar and the forum was dominated by "Dypsis, Dypsis, Dypsis" day and night (so ironic that the mighty Dypsis genus has been whittled down to mainly ankle-biter palms). Also, at that time PT was mainly a tropical/meditteranean palm forum. It probably was only a decade or so ago that I noticed increasing number of members in the US interested in cold hardy palms, i.e. Sabals, Trachycarpus, Butias, etc. I'm thrilled to see interest in palms of all kinds spreading to all parts of the country. You are a big part of spreading the news about the wealth of Sabals that can be grown. I'm familiar with many of the species/hybrids you grow but others are new to me. Since Ian I've increased the variety of Sabals in our gardens - no tougher palm around here, yet the only palm idiot landscapers and residents "hurricane cut" almost to death every storm season.

While I'm here, allow me to make a request. I don't have a whole lot of room left in the yard for behemoth palms. I am interested in what I often refer to as "uber dwarf" Sabals. I currently have a number of Blountstown Dwarfs, Wakulla Dwarfs, Chipola Dwarfs, High Springs Dwarf, a dwarf Sabal from Italy and Sabal Welfare from TX, also Sabal FL/GA line. Some of these are small as 18" tall x 30" wide and grow true from seeds. I've been looking for Sabal "Castor Dwarf" from LA for years. If you come across any of these tiny palms I would be interested. I am sure there are more of them out there.
