Chrysalidocarpus (Dypsis) lastellianus in Florida?

Recommended Posts

It's been a minute since I've posted to this Palmtalk board but I'm just done with Facebook\Messenger for various reasons so i wanted to begin posting here again.  I live in South Florida, USA. Zone 10b.

My hobby is making palm hybrids.  I'm always trying to obtain flowers / pollen from my trees and trees in my city.  One that i have a hard time finding is Chrysalidocarpus lastellianus (Red Neck Palm). I have one about 12ft OA in my yard (below) but not flowering yet.  Does anyone know of any that are flowering in FL that are the REAL C. lastellianus?

  • JD in the OC changed the title to Chrysalidocarpus (Dypsis) lastellianus in Florida?

Nice to have you back posting here on PalmTalk and looking forward to seeing your posts, especially about the Dypsis hybrids you are creating!

I’m not sure how pure they are but I have received seeds that were sourced from Flamingo Gardens. I see you are in Fort Myers and that’s not super close though.

I've been to Flamingo. in Davie right? It was a while ago.  Do you have any pics of their red neck? All the ones i have seen in South FL are just leptocheilos.
