Really not worth for your subtropical climate, where there are available far many better choices.

It is passion that pushes us beyond any limits! Two years for a baby palm , that is dedication. I think the first sign of life will bring a big smile. Harry

I think that’s a tad unfair. I recently saw one locally and it was a beauty. Really stiff fronds that reflect sunlight clearly set it apart from other similar palms like T fortunei. There are certainly more tropical appearing palms suitable for NSW, but I think T brasiliensis var acanthocoma has ornamental appeal.

I really cannot agree. It' s a very handsome and rare palm here and also endangered in it' s habitat in southern Brazil.

I have several big T. acanthocoma grown from seeds. To see them growing is part of the fun.

I have a few but only seedlings. I’ll definitely keep at least one and find a spot for it but space is already tough to find here!

Start planting them on the roof.

It's a good looking palm to me, and its spiny stem is a unique feature.

I have one going from seed and it has got to be my slowest seedling. I think it's on its fourth strap leaf after two years.

Is this palm a remote germinator? It's been growing in a cup the size of a Solo cup, but maybe it wants to reach down further early in life?

I got time to spare and it sounds like I will need it not sure if it’s a remote germinated.
