I have managed to germinate 2 out of 5 thebacia seeds such a Long root I turned a styrofoam box up it was all I could find deep enough and used that with a plastic large plastic bag inside it put it in the hothouse and waited and my patience has  been rewarded I did not even have a container long enough so I cut up a plastic 2 litre milk carton tha5 should do for the time being no2 all I have to do is grow it without killing it

I germinated some Hyphaene petersiana seeds years ago. I cut the tops off 2 litre cola bottles, took the bum out of one and joined them together. Oh the ends we go to for our palms.

Have you tried germinating Borassus. Their roots are super long. 

Millbrook, "Kinjarling" Noongar word meaning "Place of Rain", Rainbow Coast, Western Australia 35S. Warm temperate. Csb Koeppen Climate classification. Cool nights all year round.

No haven’t tried borassus but I have purchased them in 6 inch pots not sure how they managed to do so
