Well, I dug through the group of 15 gal Chrysalidocarpus of various species, Raveneas, etc. most in 15 gal pots, some 7's and true to form.. the robusta was the only dead one..

:indifferent:

Wow! “Chrysalidocarpus in 15 gal pots”……Sounds like you need to make a couple posts on the “For Sale” section Bill!! 😳

I’ll be keeping an eye out. 😎 👍🏻

***PS…Bummer about your Robusta***

I do some experiments and learning in my garden with palms so you don't have to experience the pain! Look at my old threads to find various observations and tips!

So you are going to start planting them soon????  I will bring a lawn chair and camera Bill.  I want to document this momentous event.  Just think how much more growth you will get with all of them in the ground. :yay:

I didn't say WHEN I was going to plant out the rear yard. 🤔  I need to complete an ACTUAL driveway to my large garage first.  (The advantage and disadvantage to being single... no hurry, but things don't get done either)

BUT to help you feel better (and let you know conditions are still the same..lol) Here is a pic of my plantings in the back yard in the last month.  A fern freshly dug from Larry Blacks, a Chamadorea linearis and Cham. woodsoniana. In the background is my Chrysalidocarpus malcomberi (Jerry Anderson version) and a Lepidorrachis mooreana behind that.. both there a while.

The poor linearis was getting overgrown in it's 2 gal pot and in the shade up front, so it's taking a bit of a sun hit.

Back to the robusta thread now.. :P

I have robusta and lanceolata

Mike, how has your robusta done with the heat and humidity there?  Any issues with a light freeze?

It loves heat and humidity, its growing well with lows in the low to mid 70s and highs in the low 90s.  It was in the greenhouse for the freeze so i cant say there.  One major issue is scale. No other plant has it and i thought it was gone but with heat it exploded again. I have not seen it before and i think it may have come in the plant.  I have not used chemicals yet, but will have to i think since they are apparently pretty aggressive and nothing here is eating them.

Sorry about the scale - hope you can get them under control.  I may try one here.

Based on it taking full morning sun in a 3 gallon pot i would give it a try, the heat doesnt seem to bother it.  No idea how it will handle a major cold event, but i think its worth the gamble to try and see!
