Is yours going in sand? Not sure how old mine is but probable around the 20 years or so. Growth rates have been pretty good for me but like a lot of my palms since the last flood with good rain throughout the last few years, growth rates have accelerated.

Yes black sandy soil wow your palm Is close to wall lucky it wasn’t a Bismarck we both have similar palms planted roughly around the same time what we both could have done in tropics

I have one in Hawaii, but no decent photos to share. It's a relatively new addition to the garden, seems happy enough. It was in a larger pot at Floribunda. So far seems a carefree palm for an absentee gardener. The leaves seem a bit different from yours; for sure mine is Cryosophila but maybe not warscewiczii. Could be that yours is in the shade? I'll see if I can dig up a decent pic.  I do hope mine will put on some size sooner rather than later. Was yours grown from seed those 20 years ago?

I've got a couple here, been in the ground about 15 years, about 6 feet (2m) tall in clay soil, regular water.

Slow, but pretty. The Late Louis and Carol Hooper had a couple near their front door that were about 15 feet tall, look up into their white undie-leaves . . . .

Hi Kim it was originally in the sun then the garden grew around it now it’s in a rainforest I purchased it as a one leaf seedling from Rich trapnell rosebud farm oh to live in Hawaii in the warm tropical climate and just grow palms

I have several Cryosophilas, but only two that were sold to me as C. warscewiczii.

Both are in lots of shade as canopy has grown.

Planted at one gallon size (or smaller) about 2018.

More than once I have gone to pull out a weed and connected with one of its root spines. No spines anywhere else so I forget it is armed.

I planted three as warscewiczii, but from the records of seed size, I believe they are actually stauracantha. I planted two as the latter in March 2016, raised from seeds collected locally. Here's one of them:

Palm identification can get tricky I only purchase seeds or plants from reputable sources if I can help it I have been taken (ripped off) before by market sellers not only for palms but other varieties of plants and certain so called seed merchants when importing seeds the old saying buyer beware but when we see new varieties we don’t have we get excited and forget logic but either way you’re palm is a real stunner true variety or not

Here's my two Cryosophila Warscewiczii, purchased as a 1 gallon back around August 2021.  This one I planted in October 2021 in a part shade spot with Bordelon banana to the West side of it.  That helped in the 24-26F frost in January 2022, it only took maybe 25% burn.  It was undamaged at 26-28F with 20+ hours under freezing in Christmas 2022.  It's a really pretty palm and definitely a 9B palm in my experience.  This one is about 2 feet tall and has a nice new spear growing:

This one lived in a pot for about 1.5 years and I planted it about 2 months ago.  It's about half the height...

Nice palms Merlyn from what I understand they like water and are quite cold tolerant now all we have to do is wait for them to go to seed cheers merlyn

Nice palms, but spiny muthas. Of the two I have, one is robust with a wide base and some serious spines, the smaller one not so much of either trait. They love water and luckily, I don’t have to worry about cold hardiness.

Bloody skite !!  They are pretty things. Mine sat and laughed at me for 10 years until a so called arborist dumped a skip on top of it.
