Pre Tour Tour of Two awesome San Diego Gardens

I will never understand how Californians afford to live there.

And then have a yard big enough to grow palms like these.

They look great BTW!

Matt you have plenty of distractions in your garden so that anything that isn't looking perfect will just go unnoticed among the exceptionally rare and beautiful for Southern California.  I have only been to your garden a couple of times, but disappointment was never associated with my memories.

Funny you say this! As soon as Josh told me your garden was the other garden that would be toured on the same day I was immediately regretting my decision to show mine! You have one of my favorite gardens in SoCal. For the Dypsis and newcal lovers you are in for a treat!

Don’t regret!

The two gardens are each the perfect foil for the other!

Thanks for the positive words.  It's actually a bit stressful getting ready for something like this.  Pretty much impossible to get a 1/2 acre garden into perfect condition.  Weeds, dead leaves etc... just never stops. So being reminded that people usually enjoy it anyways helps calm me down.

Don’t worry! It’s gorgeous and we’ll all swoon!

And at @ellidro’s place too.

Gonna wear my swooning helmet ⛑

Man I'm not sure I can get anyone to watch my kids Saturday. I so badly want to make the drive out for this one!

I’m in the same situation (Girl Scout “horse camp” with my daughter). 🐴
Sadly one of the few events of the year that would take precedence over seeing these two amazing gardens.

@Matt in SD and @ellidro - If there’s ever another day you’re “open” for visitors I’d love to come by and take a quick peek. Partly for “swooning” purposes, but would also be really helpful in planning my own yard, since a lot of my “baby palms” get planted next Spring (and you have mature versions of a lot of the plants I own).

Really sad about missing this one. Take lots of photos y’all 📸

Looks to be another great meeting.

Perhaps next year I can make a meeting and see old friends.
