The new leaves leaflets segments are broad and open while the old ones are folded. 

Palm was planted 2 years ago and this spring it's pushing out fronds like crazy.

Looks like it's settling in nicely and "pushing out fronds like crazy" is a good thing.

But why is the older fronds folded in half lengthwise?

How about photos of the entire palm? From what I see it looks like a healthy palm and you say it’s growing like mad.

Its only the older fronds that are folded down the middle lengthwise, the new ones are fine.
