Finally.   I hope this pans out.   The news the other day said that this is the most consecutive days without any rain at all here in 25 years.   Hopefully we get a decent soak.  

It feels like rain this morning so i hope you get your rainfall!  Great weather for acclimating new plants from Floribunda too, mine came during chilly weather but were unphased by it, and now can keep chugging along.  Perfect packing of course helps. Hoping for a rainy soaking for all that need it!

That turned out to be a bust… 0.11 inches of rain today.  It’s the best time of year to acclimate here.  Low sun, milder temps.   I’m going to try to get some things in the ground this month.  

.45” here in southwest Volusia County yesterday. First measurable rain since Hurricane Milton. A little bit of green popping up on my long dead lawn

Roughly the same here.  Barely enough to collect up a few cups full of water and dump them in the potted plants.

I've been getting a lot of rain here in south Brevard.  It's been raining here every day for the past four days.

It was raining all day yesterday, it just didn’t amount to anything here.  

Just now though….  Jesus!  A hole in one.   That’s the most rain in the shortest time since I’ve lived at this house.   We just got violently pounded, the past hour.   Not sure how much fell, but it was a lot.   A bunch of inches in an hour.  

We are relatively high up here and everything is flooded.   The low lying areas near by are in for problems this AM.   
 

That’s as high as it gets here.   

Florida weather is crazy.  Yesterday was supposed to be 2.8 inches, we got barely any, and today 0.14 and it’s the most flooding I’ve ever seen.   Hard to predict tiny blobs.  

 

And just like that… it’s over.

 

A quick 3+ inches.  

We received 5.98" here in my part of PSL, 4.5" fell in the space of 60 minutes. Street was flooded temporarily and a car stalled in front of our house which we didn't see until this morning. The owner has since claimed his vehicle.

Prior to this week, we went over 3 weeks without a drop of rain.🌵to 🏊‍♂️...and so it goes.

Both the National Weather Service & The Weather Underground had minimized the rainfall amounts in our area just prior to this rainfall. They had forecast heavy rain with the possibility of several inches predicted, but when it didn't materialize during the day they backed off. My wife and I grumbled about the missed opportunity but then suddenly...

 

Nothing has happened to change this graphic locally.  Dry, dry, dry....

The outlooks for rainfall the rest of winter look the same too. Im betting some red shows up again somewhere.  January outlook is for well above average temps, especially south florida, on the just released monthly outlook from NOAA.  Fire weather warnings on a few days this spring i bet.

The rain spots seemed hyper-local.  I’m happy we got enough for a minor flood,, but if you went 20 minutes down the highway, they didn’t get anything.   It’s going to be a dry start to the dry season for most of the state.  Down here, when February rolls around and it starts getting hot, the water bill is going to suck.  

This morning early, we had big rain roll through the ATL metro 1/2 to one inch. Looking at the storm line looks like only Pensacola and Tallahassee will see any of this. Won't even make it to Jacksonville.

In SoFL, Cape Coral to Fort Piece should get something.

Nice steady rain overnight here in Fort Myers. Great for the garden, now just hoping we don't have a major cool spell while everything is still soggy. 

Happily, the morning forecast was off. Looks like central FL is getting its share.

 

We measured over half an inch of much-needed rain today.  Hopefully 2025 spares us the wrath of winter and the rainy season starts early.

Got the first measurable rain since Milton yesterday.  It came out to about .25".    Otherwise, the dry beat goes on...

Moist soil would sure be better going into this cold week than the dry sand we've got.

You may get your wish tomorrow.  ~30%-40% chance of rain here.  We'll see if we actually get anything, or if it just clouds up briefly and blows over.

The cold but beneficial rain this week puts a dent in the local drought.  Wet soil also cools more slowly than dry soil so that will benefit us come Saturday morning.

Cooler weather has limited the need for rain but it will be pressing sooner than later.

This is the time of year where we all hold our breath until it starts raining again.  That's assuming we don't get a skunked rainy season, of course.

It’s brutal right now.   Crystals clear skies, blazing hot sun, snowbirds everywhere, no rain on the horizon for months now.  Not a great start to the hot part of the dry season.   I hate this time of year.  

We received 0.10" of rain today.  That's probably not enough to impact the map, but the grass and plants appreciated it.  We've recorded our first 90F day already on 2/13/2025.  It's a rough time of year for anything that hates dry conditions.

Did get a lucky break with a downpour for a couple hours last night.  Just enough to help with the dry spots in the yard.  I’ll take it.

We ended up with an inch of rain in the garden today.  That should keep everything happy after the next cool down abates.

The .025" yesterday will not dent this

Monday's drenching rains should lighten the map a bit next go round.

My measurements were ~2in throughout the yard.  The plants really liked that.  It would be nice to get more at regular intervals, even if it is hot and dry overall as usual.

A little spritzing yesterday wasn't much help

It hasnt been as bad this year for me, yet. Getting concerning all over the country for drought now especially southern areas and rhe northern plains. Im hoping for a good start to rainy season in mid may instead of late june🤞
