Wow! Got 0.7”

Nice!  That's more than I've seen in 3 months.

Welp my skepticism was wrong. We've had about an inch and a half and it's still storming.

its so dry and with the water restrictions my palms are prematurely dropping leaves and holding smaller crowns.  I was several bismarckia turning bronze along the I75, on the way to defoliation.  Untill this year, they looked very nice without any irrigation.

Formerly in Gilbert AZ, zone 9a/9b. Now in Palmetto, Florida Zone 9b/10a??

0.24" this morning. A light rain but a soaking rain. Need more like that.

There's about 0.75"-1" in the forecast for the next 7 days. Pattern favors chances for at least scattered showers and storms over the coming weeks in the Panhandle.

Palms - 1 Bismarckia nobilis, 2 Butia odorataBxJ, 3 BxSChamaerops humilis, 1 Chamaedorea cataractarum, 1 Chamaedorea elegans, 1 Chamaedorea microspadix1 Chamaedorea radicalis1 Hyophorbe verschaffeltiiLivistona chinensis1 Livistona nitida, 1 Phoenix canariensis2 Phoenix roebelenii, Ravenea rivularis1 Rhapis excelsa1 Sabal bermudana, Sabal palmetto, 1 Sabal minor, 3 Syagrus romanzoffiana, Trachycarpus fortunei4 Washingtonia robusta

It "rained" here today. Enough to dampen the street and lawn but not enough to reach the soil.

My gauges recorded between 0.10 to 0.20 inches of rain in various parts of the yard.  Not the gully-washer we could use, but better than nothing.

As expected, central areas are trending down with expected totals.  The SE coast meanwhile, shows an uptick.  Translated:  More of the same.  I expect less than a quarter inch when all said and done while Dade and Broward will again need canoes to maneuver through traffic.  The emoji I'm searching for is of course inappropriate and unavailable.

We shall see.  Maybe it will be the usual where it mostly waters the ocean.  Whenever they call for heavy rain, we get nothing much.  The real storm will hit when there is a high degree of confidence in only a light misting.

From the NWS Tampa Bay discussion

"During the weekend, a couple of shortwaves will rotate through the southeastern US, dragging the frontal boundary through the Florida Peninsula. Moisture will pool ahead of the front, with PWAT values forecast to approach 2 inches, allowing for numerous showers and storms to spread south through the forecast area Saturday and Saturday night, then gradually clear out from north to south by Sunday evening as drier air fills in behind the front. QPFs for the entire event have been trending lower through the last couple of forecast cycles, but 5 day QPFs are still in the 0.75-1.50 inches, which should bring a small amount of relief from the ongoing drought."
