New Caledonia palms do well in my climate, your cool climate soil temperature will slow the palm down. And as any good gardener knows if the tag say pyroformis then it’s a pyroformis.

so things have to be put close together....

What do we have here....?

from to left to right -

V. winin (thin trunks)

C. umbraculifera (the big leaves behind the V.winin)

V. joannis (trunk front center)

B. alfredii (behind the V. joannis)

B. nobilis (in the back on the right)

V. spiralis or arecina (the leaf sticking out above the B. nobilis)

S. liukiuensis (still young, front right side)

....and there is one more....

R. pharinifera (right behind the Satakentia)

 

How is that for a start? 😉

Here's a Corypha sp. at Kopsick loaded with fruits with lots of seeds to be collected later and a big removal to come as well!

I haven't even looked at the banana seeds in weeks. I've left them sealed up on a mat that's tied to the bedroom grow lights so everything is on and off with a switch, they need heat/cool cycles per the internet. 

 

2 1/2 months after purchase, 40 seeds plus some alleged Sabal Causiarium plus being sent the wrong seeds and being totally unsure that ANYTHING is what the labels said they were - 

 

I have an alleged Musa Sikkimensis Red Tiger sprout! I pushed it closer to the lamp and hopefully some of the other 39 and the alleged Causiarium sprout soon. Bought at the end of August. 😑

Yes, yes it is. I don't think I reused this coir or not, but there's definitely still 10 black rocks that look like banana seeds and this is definitely a Sabal. 

 

It's bad enough that I'm having to watch this Saints game.

Satakentias are beautiful, not slow growing, very strong against high winds, never get sick or attacked by the rhinoceros beetle (at least over here) - in one word: They are perfect palms. You will be soon rewarded with a lot of joy. Just make sure that they get enough water and give them time to adjust to full sun when they were greenhouse grown.

I have currently four of them as 'backup palms' just to have something left in case that a super strong typhoon wipes out my other mostly non-indigenous palms.

@Husain That Washingtonia is getting big! Did you trim up that trunk like that? It looks so nice all cleaned up . I can’t get my Robusta cleaned up , too gnarly. Harry

A second flower has emerged on my queen (first pic), so that's cool.

Second pic is the one that emerged in October. Hoping to see this one open up soon. Not sure how long they grow before they open.
