Last night the old leaf on this Rhopalostylis came off and I couldn't help noticing the spathe and spadix this morning.   The spathe must have popped open and dropped overnight.

Fresh crownshafts and growth rings on Chrysalidocarpus lanceolatus. Love the colours on the thing, and the fact it’s still alive down here!

Lovely colors . I’m afraid mine is a few years from trunking but growing well . Was that a double when you planted it ? I know these can sometimes clump . Harry

Hi Harry yes it had two stems when planted 5 years ago. Was just about to start trunking at that time.

Yesterday I managed to muster up the fortitude to go for a short walk on part of the property and see how the drought affected things,  looks like the little Areca stilt palm died along with six or seven others out right but other things look pretty amazingly well considering what they’ve been through.

Glaucum cutting have rooted and starting to sprout.

Well, well, well, first flowering for my Lemurophoenix. A few weak prior attempts but, finally. Planted as a 3 gallon back mid 2008 from Bo Lundkvist stock. That seventeen years has gone by like a rocket.

Ain’t that the truth! Also , when we plant smaller palms , we realize how special those 25 year old palms we planted years ago are.

😂 . I believe it to be Chrysalidocarpus Albofarinosa but I'm neither a botanist nor certain. I have four of them two solitary and two clumping. This particular one is shorter in leaf spacing and quite coarsely ringed, the others quite smooth but I haven't worked out if this is merely situational.

My Alexandrea caught my eye as I was leaving for work this morning . It just opened another frond. It seems this year it has accelerated a bit , the crown shaft shed a leaf base and got much thicker! Good eye Harry.  Yes, that is a Chambeyronia macrocarpa hookeri at the right edge of the photo.  My Pritchardia hillebrandii is just outside the frame on the other side of the Chambeyronia.
