Something a bit different caught my eye: An aerial root on Chamaedorea tenella ‘Veracruz’ dislodging a lower frond still trying to grip on.

I’ve only got these 2, both 3 years old from seed very generously given by @palmtreesforpleasure . Both have just started flowering and are both female.

Looking good Tim  10 points of for the weeds, and an extra 5 points of for not controlling such a dangerous out of control weed the good old pop weed. So a happypalms score of 85/100, you can do better next time! 🤣

The girth of the trunk on my Caryota gigantic in Carlsbad.   It is on a slope so will be very fun to remove after it flowers eventually.

A wonderful trunk and, at the same time, a very large diameter.
Oh yes, Tracy. Regarding the effort involved, I can still remember well when the four of us had to dig out our CIDP, which was only 2.5 meters high in comparison, in 2022 after a severe storm in winter and about

-9 degrees celsius / 14.9 degrees fahrenheit, after the protective structure had been completely destroyed and the palm tree had frozen to death. and the ground was (is) flat.
Otto simply lifted out the already wide trunk as if it were a toddler, well, he is built like a well-trained American/British professional heavyweight boxer...
The roots reached deep, and it took us about three hours to get it done, and we were exhausted. Then came the great frustration, and Sabine cried as if her best friend had died... Ralf and I were too exhausted, while Otto remained calm and was still fit.

This more caught my ear than my eye.  I was at the BBQ below it and heard something overhead to see the old leaf falling and getting partially stuck in the Ravenea glauca.   That sound triggered my eyes to it.   Chrysalidocarpus leptocheilos.

Nice!  Has it flowered yet?  If I remember correctly, it seems like these take awhile to flower in California?

Still no inflorescence with over 12 feet of ringed trunk.  They definitely hold out here in California.

Wow, that is interesting, I wonder what causes the delay there?   Seems like the climate is good for them.   Yours looks perfect!

Amazing! I remember not that long ago when you posted it as a tiny seedling. Looks like it’s growing well and quickly!

Dasyantha absolutely love my climate and soil, another couple of years and she’s going in the ground in a special place, one that’s in a nice viewing spot, preferably by the door. It would be a shame to auction of such a rare beauty if I dont have a spot for it I might have to auction it off to the highest bidder any idea of a reserve price🤣

Closer to the city in a small cottage. Suburb of West End. This place is huge living by myself.

It will be an interesting process figuring out what to take. The Zamias alone would fill a garden.

Something for 12 months time. PACSOA sale for the surplus.

This time next week I'll be on the way to the Kon Tum region...

It was the sound that attracted my attention this morning.   The humming of bees informed me that the flowers on the Chrysalidocarpus prestonianus inflorescence were opening.  The color goes from a yellow to a deep golden shade of yellow when the flowers open.

Tracy, almost larger than the palm. Does that mass of flowers have a scent? Mine flower all the time, but are now thirty feet up and out of nose range.

I will have to check Tim.  Mine is within proximity to smell but I haven't noticed.   Perhaps the close proximity of other plants has smothered the scent for me.

Went out and checked but I don't smell anything.   Here is what caught my eye when visiting my Carlsbad rental this morning.
