Collectorpalms
(Nearly) any mosquitos and zero bats to use to eat them. I think the freeze did them in. teddytn
High 80’s-90’s all summer long is normal in TN, but high 90’s and 100’s with no rain for all of June was abnormal. At least we’ve gotten some rain here and have some more forecast to come. Honestly can’t imagine being a gardener in AZ, south TX for example, y’all got some high XP down there lol

That was crazy last night, I had very similar conditions and the lack of breeze made things worse. Usually temperatures are low 80s or high 70s by 10PM, even when its 105+ during the day.

My BxPT is fine. My Tallest Livisona Chineses is fried and I think I am going to loose a 7FT Mediterranean. It looks freeze dried. Like it just died overnight. I've noticed a lot of plants struggling this year and I too think that last years freeze, along with last summers constant rain were factors. If the plants had a proper growing season, they could possibly handle our current conditions.

Collectorpalms
107 still climbing. Now hottest since Aug 2011. The summer from hell. Saw a bird just like that at HEB in Bryan, looked like it needed help and was left to fend for itself. I thought it was on deaths door. Came back and saw it a week later, this was last week. It looked pretty roughed up. Lake Travis mirroring 2011. 1 30 Year Zone Average 20F. Ryan: Contact 979.204.4161 Collectorpalms@gmail.com

Swolte
Please throw some of that cold down here! It certainly is a good stress test albeit one I hope doesn't become too common... Most plants look exhausted, which is normal, and I have about one plant die on me a week. I am sure that rate will go up as this heat continues. Last week my rare Quercus Guyavifolia (golden oak) turned to a crisp! On the other hand, it is interesting to see what plants do fare well. I don't see many (unirrigated) plants able to flower in this weather but my morning glory tree did show off some light pink (see pic) and the Caesalpinia are actively growing and flowering. Any other winners out there?!
