I still think Pembana.

Dypsis is glacially slow except for Pembana. Notice it has bigger growth between the rings than your Maxima. Pembana is the only Dypsis in inland CA capable of that kind of growth.

Like how you noticed the maxima ! I got them both the same day from Kevin weaver . I’ll have to send a picture of pure pembana  I got in a 1 gallon from floribunda the same year

If it's a lutescens hybrid, I think the initial input was correct.  The reason I say this is the leaflet insertion angles vary like the Dypsis madagascarensis varieties do.  Pembana leaflets are all coming off the rachis at the same angle resulting in a uniform structure as opposed to a semi-plumose appearance that the insertion of D madagascarensis exhibits.  Hybrids can grow fast just and have large ring spacing as well.  Trunk width is definitely representative of a hybrid with lutescens that would have a large diameter than the lutescens parent.  I assume that the reason it was sold as a lutescens hybrid was because the seed came off a lutescens, so the only confusion was what was the cross?  Have you asked Kevin more about it since you got it from him?

Look at leaflet insertion on your photo below and then look up Dypsis madagascarensis for comparison

Tracy could it be a Pembana/Madagascarensis hybrid?

I think I posted my unknown “lutecens” hybrid on your last post also but just to give my two cents. Mine was supposedly a Lutescens x Lanceolata and it does in fact show both traits. As you can see, the speckling is very previlant on the new growth and wider, more plumose leaflets similar to Lanceolata.

Is it possible yours is Pembana x Madagascariensis like @James B stated instead of a cross with Lutescens? I don’t see any traits that make me think its a hybrid of Lutescens. As @Tracy stated, the leaflets structure does look very similar to Madagascarensis.

Here’s mine for reference. Planted as a 1G last year so it definitely has the coveted Hybrid growth.  Again….two cents.
