A sad sight

The ice droop on the fronds is not the issue.  It's the lows and the ice in the crowns that will need to be watched.  Treat everything with copper fungicide on a dry morning when you see temps go over 65 or 70.

Things don't look great, I'll post some pics in a bit.

And the bad news continues, they're forecasting 16 degrees tonight

Bummer deal. 16 !?! We’re forecast for 25 hard to believe we’re that much warmer. You should of hit the 40’s like we did do the ice should be all melted now hopefully.

I just checked and they've revised it to 22 which is a world of difference. It's only going to be in the upper 40s / low 50s all week so still have a bit of an uphill battle

Will do, we aren't forecasted to be that warm for awhile but at least they're calling for it to be sunny

Usually mid Feb treat once then again 1st of March.  Spray spears and trunks of and suspected cold damaged palms before rot sets in.  Mix up a gallon or 2 in a pump sprayer for all you have.  I've been doing that the last couple years.

Any immediately foliar damage show from the ice and the subsequent low temps the following night?  Hopefully not as bad as anticipated?

My mules unprotected fronds seem to be a little more yellow and spotty than usual, but otherwise seem ok.  We will see what damage shows once it warms up a bit.

The inflorescence on the mule that had the unfortunate timing of popping open a couple days before the ice storm,  is obviously already brown and fried...

I have a Livistona nitida that did not like the ice at all.  Damage to the foliage is already apparent and is ~40%.

I'll take some pics in the next few days to show how everything looks. All in all things don't look terrible. My weather station decided to act up so I don't have any temperature data for my yard but here's what a few sources report for the night of the ice event and the following night:

Accuweather- 24, 19

Weather Channel - 26, 16

Time and date - 25, 19

Alright, so two back to back weekends of winter fun.

So as we all know, last weekend brought a brief but damaging ice event to this area of the southeastern coast. Well this past Friday night we got enough snow to coat everything then be completely gone by noon followed by a dry day but a cold night. I recorded 19F last night in my yard. I'll probably post how everything did in my yard and landscaping progress threadof anyone is interested.
