Hi friends,

Could use some help in selecting some more supplemental lighting for my girls here whose lower leaves are clearly not receiving enough light. What's in the lamps now are GE Lighting Grow Light PAR38 Light Bulb, Full Spectrum, 32-Watts.  I'm thinking I need to add 2 spotlights (from above) on either side for both and am considering:  https://greenlightdepot.com/products/led-ufo-high-bay-150w-hook-mount-tempered-glass-ul-dlc

There are quite a few options on that site and I'm very sorry to ask for so much effort from you more seasoned folk to take a look at what I'm considering, but if you are so inclined I'd be very grateful (and so would my poor palmas). I've spent at LEAST 40 hours trying to make an educated decision as to what to get and I am just more confused than ever.

The pictures I've attached are very misleading as to what natural light gets in there- it's almost none if you can believe it. Ultimately I'd like to put in enormous sky lights but that's going to be a while.

Gratefully,

Soraya

Thanks I have experience keeping palms in pots like yours. My foxtail is in a room with floor to ceiling windows no artificial lighting and does well

Throw some skylights in…..

Shall I make a go fund me? Save the palms?(/s)

Be great if I could just "throw in some skylights" but unfortunately I don't have a scant 20 grand to burn. Sure wish I did though. God knows I'd make that room a whole solarium.

You’re absolutely right, sorry about the snarky remark. Honestly I wish I could throw some skylights in lol. Real talk, the LED lighting game has advanced so much recently what used to take a high pressure sodium or metal halide with a ballast and had to be hardwired in, with a massive amount of heat can be reproduced with a simple 120v plugin LED fixture. Not sure about an exact light fixture that would match your decor, but I’ve got a hydroponic setup growing vegetables in a grow tent that sees no sunlight and only has LED lighting. Let me get a pic and I’ll post it.

That light will work however the fronds and leaflets that are less exposed will die off shortly. Don’t be alarmed it’s just what the plant does to adjust.
