2021 photos of McCarty Hall Palm Trees in Gainesville, Florida

I did a quick stop in Gainesville, FL to check on the palm trees that were planted back in 2008! I included a link to one of the more original posts to see how much they have grown over the years and also to see which palms did not make it in the cold. To date, I believe the coldest it has gotten in the garden is around 26 F.

Earlier photos of the palm garden

I included some photos in this post, and the rest of the photos are at this post.

Amazing Kyle. Based on the palms, how would you classify the USDA zone of that climate? Thank you!

Interesting, a very good microclimate, because January 2010 was such a brutal winter and Gainesville recorded a low of 17 and 11 of 12 days below freezing.

The zone I come up with is 9a-2 (higher end zone 9a) for most of Gainesville when I run the numbers for 30 years.  There were four NOAA stations in the Gainesville area at various time periods.  The NOAA records for them are attached in spreadsheet form.
