New palm purchases

Last week I had to go over to Limon on the Caribbean coast of Costa Rica to pick up a car that was being shipped down for me.  On the way back, I stopped at a nursery and picked up some new palms and other plants.

and last but not least...

I think this might be an Iriartea?  It was only $5 so I grabbed it.

That's Camila Bren!  She looks like Lulu but she is about 6 times bigger.  She's always hanging out with me and Lulu!

Jeff, do you know what species those geonomas are? It seems your dog has become a full-fledged tico dog too.

Hi Jake, they were marked "Geonoma" for 3,500 colones (about $7) each.  That's all I know about them.  I haven't tried researching the internet yet to see if I can identify them.

Jeff,

Did you buy any nice heliconias?

Hey Bren, I only picked up one heliconia.  It was a nightmare picking up the car.  It took me 5 hours of standing in lines and running all over town to get documents and copies, etc.  Then the car battery was dead and that delayed things another hour.  By the time I left the Caribbean coast, I was ready to get home!  So I only stopped at one nursery.  They had a bunch of really cool heliconias growing around the property, but none of them were for sale!  I picked up one that the guy identified as collinsiana (spelling?).  It is a nice plant with 3 new shoots coming up.  I picked up another heliconia locally and it has green stems with red spots.  I have no idea what it is.  Maybe I'll post a pic in the tropical plants forum.
