Read an article about a similar study. Hooked plants up to something to the effect of a volt meter. A scientist came into the room where all 10 plants were, cut an entire plant off at soil level. All the meters went crazy. Different scientists entered the room the next day no change in reading on meters. The scientist that cut the plant entered the room days later and all the remaining plants meters went crazy. Basically saying the plants had “knowledge” a bad event happened, and they “remembered” who did it and recognized his presence days later and reacted. 
Humans generally agree that without a system very similar to our own there can be no intelligence. Without a brain there can be no brain activity. Which leads to the question. Where’s the proof our thoughts occur in our brain? If plants don’t have a brain their awareness, memory, intelligence  must be somewhere else other than a brain.

I think there's a lot we have yet to uncover about plant " intelligence "  let alone what might constitute as a plant's brain..  Hopefully someone will make some ground breaking discoveries carefully studying this area of research.
