back at the hotel.time to snap a few more pix of the landscaping & hit the pool!

dinner was excellent--tempe in a spicy sauce

& chicken satay.yum!

for dessert there was a banana pancake with ice cream.

someone else was thinking about a meal,too.

breakfast time,next morning.

black sweet rice with milk.here they add banana slices.

and i thought it couldn't get any better!

they cut the watermelon to look like a pagoda!

i think they are way ahead of us in "pool design".

all the pool "works" are artfully hidden under this stone monolith/temple thing.

we decided to go look at some land nearby that was for sale.construction along the way.

this land was in the rice fields,or "sawah".

our friend wayan told us a big hotel would be built across the road.there goes the neighborhood.

we came across an old ti plant.

near the future hotel site you can walk to the river valley.

on the way we passed on old cemetary.

this would've been a much better property to purchase due to the river view.way more expensive,of course.

By your "tenses" would that imply thou hast purchased a section of said Bali?  ???

not yet,bill.i meant that it would've been better than the one we were actually in the area to look at.

while visiting our friend melli at her warung(restaurant)

we realized she was right next door to made wijaya's

hotel in sayan.we got a great deal thru her kind auspices & stayed in the "presidential suite",made's own villa when he's in sayan.

the place was SO spacious we couldn't find the light switches at night(the bintang beer didn't help!).

in bali they always put flowers everywhere.

I have really tried my best to bit my lip and just let you post these photos.  Your trip looks awesome, I can really get a grasp of why you would travel so far so frequently.  It seems magically overwhelming.  BIG gracious thanks to you for taking the time to share with all of us!  That in itself is a monumentous job!  Things are so beautiful there...  Of course, i have to choose now to inject...  I'm curious, what are real estate prices like there?  Like that lovely spot in post 174?  What does an acre cost in a place like that?  I guess I'm just dreaming, but it sure would be an interesteng place to retire and grow lots of things!  Anyhow, thanks for posting the adventure!  Something tells me there are still some more photos to come!  :cool:

and their was a god deity which was garlanded who is the

god ? i like to know the name is it lord ganesh..

i am thinking about living there someday.the land you were  asking about was the most expensive we looked at,perhaps 4000 usd for each 10 meter2,but there is always room to haggle in indonesia.

kris yes, that is ganesh.as you know hinduism is the predominant religion in bali.,& i have heard that it is relatively unchanged since ancient times due to its more isolated location.

Good pics Paul.  I'm gaining an appreciation for your taste after seeing all of the rich patterns, colors and textures there in Bali.  It's very beautiful.  You should fix up your house so that it looks like that.

Those photos of Hong Kong airport look familiar.  I was impressed, not only that the terminal buildings were incredibly airy and free of suspended ceilings, but that people were busy eating and generally having a good time.  

The resort photos seem to indicate one reason why Bali's the perfect location for a resort hotel:  if the builders are smart, they can obtain extraordinary hand craftsmanship.  You won't see anything like that in Hong Kong.

This just oozes Bali.  

The property of Made's that you stayed at looks much better than his 'famous' Vila Bebek.  I was disappointed with the run-down condition of that property.  It didn't compare at all to the photos in various books.

dave the hong kong airport was pretty fun,lotsa nice shops & the people were friendly.i wish the food we had was better...don't ever order "pizza" there!

carlo thanks for the kind words.the balinese are pretty savy when it comes to landscaping,sometimes its unbelievable.it was nice to see some pix of you in recent threads so i can put a face to your name!
