Does anyone have experience with the ‘Azul’ palm?  I really like using this palm to fill in empty spaces.  Was thinking about the ‘Azul’ for that to add different color.  Do they sucker like the regular green form?  All the pictures I was able to find show a more sparse palm with less trunks.

Thanks in advance!

To my knowledge, the only difference is the blue color.  They should still sucker like crazy.  I remember seeing a few at a plant sale, but I haven't gotten any because I didn't have a bed ready for them.  Next time I see them, I'm getting a few too.

I think @TexasColdHardyPalms grows them...

They look like typical Acoelorraphe except for bluish leaves. RPS had seeds for sale a few months ago.

Thank you.  Just wanted to be sure.  The pics from RPS looked different than what I am used to seeing.

I have several. They are extremely slow in their first year. One seedling is already showing wax on both sides of the leaves.

Here are pics. Looks about the same as the green form except for the color.

That’s the best picture I’ve seen of that palm.  Is that in habit?

Thanks for posting those beautiful pics, Zeeth!

RPS seeds are always hit-and-miss for me. I ordered one packet in January and only one seed was viable, but it is a beautiful seedling. It has three leaves now and all are glaucous!

I prefer a chamaerops cerifera, and it will be adapted to méditerranean climate.

I have been given one seedling from those seeds sold by rps. It intrigues me the fact that eophyll really feels very leathery and tip is needle like. I wonder whether it is perhaps a result of accidental hybridization.

Ceriferas are very nice,  but have much larger trunks.  They take up a lot more space.  Clustering, thinned trunk, and blue makes this a very attractive palm.  Just picture this with a blue glaucus frond:

Mi è stata data una piantina da quei semi venduti da RPS. Mi incuriosisce il fatto che eophyll sia davvero molto coriacea e che la punta sia come un ago. Mi chiedo se sia forse il risultato di un'ibridazione accidentale.

If leaves are covered by a bluish wax, I would expect this variation to be a bit cold hardier than the typical green form, just as silver bismarcks are hardier than green. But how much hardier i have no idea.

Yes we have these. Everone that buys one comes back and orders 2-3 more after they receive the first plant.
