A rain chilled 47F  after reaching 58, and dropping to 45F as a very quick cold front raced though. Clear now as we await the 3rd, and final ...for now... quick moving storm.

One of those weird days across the state where those areas to the west that saw the front move through / clear out early in the day had a decent afternoon..  Same w. the Tucson area where the storm hasn't moved through yet. Clouds aside, most of the " heavier "  rain may miss that area as it rolls through over the next couple hours.

Not much going on here. Still looks to be about a half inch of rain over the next few days. Gloomy and overcast.

Basically got the half inch already. Wind picked up this afternoon with the fresh batch of wet stuff - a driving rain that still only added about 0.15" but was enough to keep me from going to the mailbox, lol.

More rain to finish the week is pretty likely (mainly early Saturday) and maybe some stray chances in 10 days or so. The inch of rain for Feb is in the books and a very solid winter of rain no matter what from here. Snowbird Weather back on tap starting the middle of next week.

Thinking the blooms are going to be really nice this year. The desert is green, again.

Looks done. Got a 0.25" this AM. Now 1.23" on the month with chances for a smidge more coming later in the month.

50 degrees with an overnight low that has a chance to touch freezing the next two mornings. Back to Snowbird 70's around Wednesday.

Cool n Partly cloudy 53F after another .28" of rain sometime before dawn..  Drying out and ...nicer..  going forward.  Maybe some rooftop frost / frost on the grass in the shade the next couple mornings ..no big deal.  Bigger deal may be if dense fog decides to form tomorrow morning.  Well see.

Some suggestions from forecasts last night that there could be some terrain - driven T - storm development that bubbles up over the foothills N / N.E. of town today ..that could try to swipe this side of town as they slide south / south east off the hills but,   Storms, ..brief and minimal as they're looking atm on current Satellite imagery, i doubt any of the attendant shower / storm activity will reach down into the valley  ..Just too darn chilly today.

With less than 20 days left for " Winter 23 / 2024 ( ...The real way of defining the seasons,  Meteorologically.. )  just about time to start tracking the inevitable build up to Summer that lurks just on the horizon..  This year, thinking " First " dates might be delayed a little  ..at least next month.

As suggested,  ended up seeing one ..fairly decent  -by February standards-  Thunderstorm pop up in the foothills  N.E. of E. Mesa / Apache Junction and maintain itself just long enough to reach into the far east end of the valley.  " Side swiping" shower developed over Tempe before passing just to my east and merging w/ the parent storm ...now rolling south south east across the open desert just west of Superior..

Rain might continue, but the storm itself is fizzling out as it sails into Florence.

Clearing out  ...and oddly warmer atm, despite only being 49F.      Clear, and warmer from here forward.  We'll see if we awaken to some Sunday morning Fog.

As most of winter (except for one cold spell) February has been very mild this far. Constantly temperatures from 13 to 15 with some peaks even above that and also very mild nights. Today's been the warmest so far with 17.7°C as a high and a low of 12.6°C. There is a good amount of sunshine but when it rains it pours 😏. Most of winter has been very wet which I don't like. The constant mild temperatures cause many plants to already push flowers or leaves. Damage from the cold isn't too bad so far but we will wait until it really warms up. 🌡️🌨️

It's Snowbird Weather (tm) as far as the eye can see...

While foul weather is still technically possible - I'm going to call it. Winter is over in south-central AZ (Sonoran). Looking forward to getting out the fertilizer, re-potting a couple things, start some cactus seeds and pot up a cutting that came my way a couple weeks ago. Turn the irrigation back on at some point. The yard is going to get a trimming here in the not so distant future.

If only the neighborhood tree leaves wouldn't blow into the yard it would be almost perfect...

A very mild start to Thursday down south with many places staying between 12-13C / 55F overnight, although mild nights have been the story of December and February this winter.

Max of 17.8C / 64F for me here on Thursday. A few places registered 18C officially however, including London, Worcestershire and Suffolk...

The weather station at Covent Garden in central London recorded 19.3C / 66F, although that is not an official station. Several other southwest London PWS's reached 19C / 66F as well.

Still looking fairly mild for late winter going into next week, although there is a gradual cool down to be expected.

Another very mild night tonight as well. 12.5C / 54F here at 2am currently.

A start in the 60s ( 62-64F around the "Hood, at 10:15AM ) under clear skies =  the start of a GREAT  weekend / President's Day Holiday start of next week  ahead..

Rest of next week ...As it is looking for now at least,  stays the course.. Beautiful,   as we round the final corner of the month  ...and Meteorological  Winter..  No need for added chicken scratch today, ha ha..😁

Looking just beyond next week,  to the start of March  ...and start of  " Spring?"    ..Perhaps our first taste of  " True - To - the Desert - Spring Heat? "  A flirty " Here today, gone tomorrow " teaser from just one model run perhaps ...or something else.   12Z run just finished and looks similar.    ...We'll see...

After all the rain,  plants / landscapes are ready for some heat to get things growing and bloomin'. :greenthumb:

California, ..and surrounding areas still under the influence... Once the current cycle of passing storms runs it's course,  you too may enjoy a nice taste of " Spring " as well as things start to turn drier.  ....Or is what is being suggested by a majority of the model runs for the moment..

A few more warm days ahead for Perth, I'm heading a bit further north for a week but fortunately offshore so although the temps are around 45c on the coast I'll be 80kms directly west from there in the Indian Ocean where expected temps are around 24c day and night.

Yup. Within a couple degrees of 80 today. Good chance the next couple days.

Already have some blooms on bottle brush. Seeing new growth at the tips of many of my cactus. Ground still moist - the rain was timed almost perfect this winter (although about double average). The one week of frosty weather last month was winter, more or less.

It looks like the absolute max for the UK on a Met station was 16.8C / 62F near Portsmouth.

The average maximum at St James Park in London for February is currently 13C / 56F. The average minimum is 8.2C / 46F. Pretty damn mild, so far at least. No frost obviously.

Carnarvon had 50C yesterday. That’s the hottest on record for Carnarvon and the hottest place anywhere on Earth so far for 2024. Remarkable considering it’s right on the coast. Further inland where there are no settlements or thermometers it was probably even hotter.

73F under mainly clear skies at 12:27PM,  On the way to flirting with 80 later. Should be another April - like evening as the sun sets ..with maybe more clouds around for some nice colors as the sun sets tonight.  80 / 80+ tomorrow,  before a quick " cool " down on Wednesday..  Warms right back to the upper 70s for the end of the last full week left in the month.

We'll see about the suggested showers currently on the board as we wrap up February -and Winter 23 / 24 next week. Maybe trending slightly cooler ..as March opens.. but not " Cold "

All n' All?  Pretty much perfect as we kick off Spring 2024..

We had the warmest min I’ve seen here in the ten years I’ve been here with a 20.2C around 11pm then it got warmer in the 22,23C range and by 6.15am it was already 24C.

We’ve got lots of cloud cover from a decaying cyclone out in the Indian Ocean so I hope that hangs around today. We are looking at anything from 40-44C today.

An unofficial reading about a km from me was 44.9C and I believe it. I’ve never experienced such heat before not even in Perth. This place nearly has a 47C range from cold to absolute heat. Extreme. Some things are melted. Even Heliconias and Abysssinan bananas in moist soil melt in 45C heat.

Yeah 44-45C is mad hot for the Albany area. My mums family in Sorrento/Hillary’s area of Perth said they only reached about 41-42C there. So not as hot as I thought, although other parts of Perth were undoubtedly hotter. You probably have less of a sea breeze though where you are. Do you have any idea what the hPa temps were overhead? I am guessing over 25C…?

Everywhere around the world is breaking warmth records again this year, from the sea temperatures in the Atlantic and Pacific, to North America in general, to Europe, Asia and Australasia. What you have just experienced is almost certainly the effects of background warming from climate change, elevating the heat potential. I reckon we will get caned this coming summer in Western Europe, especially Spain and France.

To be honest I would take 45C over what we have right now today - it is cool, fairly overcast and a nasty chilly wind coming from the northeast. The temperature here is only 11C / 52F at 12:30pm. I am so done with winter, although it hasn’t been that bad this time around. Certainly nothing like last winter anyway.

I forgot to mention that the 45C heat we had wasn’t some ultra dry 0-1C dewpoint heat. The dewpoints were reasonably flat averaging around 15C, maxing out around 18C, lowest just below 13C. Also in the middle of the night before the heat kicked in, I even had a bit of rain fall for maybe 30 seconds which woke me up in the night. That’s unlike any sort of hot spell I’ve experienced before.

A perfect 67F at 6:58PM after a perfect Tuesday Afternoon with less than 10 days until " Spring " -My definition of it..   Then again,   ...it's already started ...No matter what others might consider the " start " of Spring. :greenthumb:

80F officially downtown  ..and at the local airport but PLENTY of lower / mid 80s around town / rest of the region.. 83F at Sky Harbour.  Cooler  ...for a day,  ..then more 80s ...before a  slight change  ...Maybe..    We'll see about the " rain " and suggested slight cool down that might usher in March  ...and Meteorological Spring.

Next " Trail marker " ahead?  ...our first 90s

Local / Regional Temps from today,  as of 4PM  Can't ask for better hiking / and Spring Training game weather..

Min of 45f/7c with a high of 13c/55.4f. The humidity was 73%. It will be cooler however the highs will still be 10c+. Going into March the temperatures look around average. Hopefully March ends up being drier and more sunny. Screenshot_20240221-034505236(1).thumb.jpg.27d6469ca27ae8a24d49a12088e1b83b.jpg

Can easily add 1-2c onto those lows being shown for central London.

I think this year there's a good chance southern Europe could have their hottest summer on record. All you have to do is look at how warm northern Africa has already been with 36.6c in Morocco in February. In the UK it's all going to depend on where the jetstream is. If we get a good amount of days with southernly winds there's a good chance it could be the hottest summer on record. February is on track to be the warmest on record for central London.

A warm but reasonably comfortable 35c in Kalbarri today with a nice breeze from the sea.

Winter time is my favorite time in SoCen Texas with mostly pleasant weather with mild daytime and cool night temperatures throughout the winter season . Freezes are rare .Our cool season is officially 2.8 months long which is pretty accurate for the most part.  It does warm up quickly though.  Current temperature in San Antonio is 66f with a high of 79f today . The rest of the week we'll be in the upper 70s to mid 80s .
