Nice. Crownshafts on the larger ones are heavy and can do some serious damage when they fall. Do you cut off the old dying leaves back to the petiole so that you have a little less weight drop when a crownshaft comes off the trunk? Or are you of the bombs away approach and anything in the way below beware?

Mostly I cut when brown on the end or hitting cars, trailer, etc. But yes, Near the end of senescence, I cut to end of petiole to not flatten all.

Dypsis “Big Curly” lookin pretty good today. Getting some size to it. Going to be a bit of an annoyance for a few years due to its placement close to the walkway but I wanted it to be close so I could smack the fat crown and trunk when walking by. 👍🏻
