Just thought I'd share a couple of pics of my indoor gems, generally palms that either wouldn't survive or would look terrible outdoors in my climate...

Chambeyronia Macrocarpa... my favourite... survives in my garden too, but hates the dry winds... and a little Pinanga Kuhli, bottom right.

Thanks Meg! Well, some of them probably could, but I'd be worried about sunburn, and especially about the effect of the horrific dry winds we get on this coast sometimes... I think they're happier indoors with the fan and occasional misting 

I do put them out in the rain couple of times a year tho...

This looks really nice!  This is exactly what I want to do in my Apartment! And the best part about what I love is that it won't be messy with the dirt and everything. I already planted a water tap near the wall where the plants are going to be, so I'm looking forward to the automated watering system. And these plant hangers are going to be in my living room where there will be a giant east and west window so that the sunrise and sunsets will be more enjoyable.

I love the little "fence" or border you put around each.  Give them that "built in" look.

It will be interesting if you'll be able to keep Chambeyronia Macrocarpa as a bonsai, I mean reasonable dimensions.

I have a 14 year old Archontophoenix Alexandrae in a pot of 35cmx35cm, total height about 1.7m.

Nobody gave me any chance, bit it still looks happy.

Keeping my Chambeyronia as a bonsai? Nice idea but I think that ship may have sailed...

I had to change it over to the other side of the room... it's out of control. Slow growing, but when a new leaf opens... getting close to the ceiling already!

I don't think it's often you can say it's impossible to fit your INDOOR palm into the frame of a photo...

Here is my Adonidia Merrilli, also grown a bit, and my Pinanga (and a small Rhapis Multifida)... the rest of the palms I finally planted outside ;)
