Any idea what's eating my foxtails?  A couple have 2-3 holes bored into the trunks, they eventually develope a copious, sappy exudate.  One of the holes is over an inch deep.  I've been unable to find any bugs on the trees. They've been growing in coastal TX 9b for going on 5 years so they have enough weather issues without having to deal with this. Thanks.

    Looks like woodpecker damage. I catch them pecking some of my oldest (25 year old) Archontophoenix and leaving holes exactly like the ones on your Wodyetia. Unfortunately, the holes are there forever.

    Maybe consider applying tree wound sealant. Pretty cheap. I guess the other question is if it is a woodpecker, is he trying to tell you something. Is some insect living inside? Probably not but my paranoid mind would start thinking that. Lol
