This cool site (www.plantmaps.com) has some nice maps of where a lot of palms grow. Some are outdated but they do give a general idea. Here is one for Sabal palmetto for example, I don't agree with the part where it shows them not native to the myrtle beach area because I have seen them growing in the woods there with my own eyes, but it does give a good idea. http://www.plantmaps.com/nrm-sabal-palmetto-cabbage-palmetto-native-range-map
