Hi All

I wan to plant this Beccariophoenix fenestralis ( which I got from Ben @Kennybenjamin) in ground...its a bit ambitious for here I guess, I am not sure anyone grows that in Sydney?

Is thee any chance for this to grow here? I think @Palms4Steve Steve has one but I am not sure he has this in ground or not?

any idea or suggestions?

    Mohsen mine has been growing outside in a pot for many years. Grows fine. Winter is no problem. I would plant it. Will need plenty of space though.

    is it in full sun, it seems it is more sun sensitive than Alfredii and madagascariensis?

    I had 3 sprouts sent to me they grew well until I got tap water into the crown when the weather was dry but a bit cool at night. I now have 2 small plants pushing out damaged leaves.

    I think filtered light would be ideal.

    Not pushing it in Sydney at all. They survive for me at 35s although alfredii is the clear winner down here. Keep wind protected and in filtered sun in warm humid spot and it will be magnificent for you. These are sometimes iron deficient and yellow right out. Iron chelates fixes that.

    im at 28S and have 3 fenetralis in full all day sun, they are perfect, still less than head height, had frost on leaves of the 3 and burn occurred but no problems recovering. Two others in shade are as good.

    You are more than 700 km up north, I thought you wouldn't have frost that up north? still you should have much much  fenetralis friendly weather than we have here ?

    also please share some picture if possible?

    I have 5 of these the biggest one has a metre or more of trunk. I find that full sun is fine for these giving much faster growth. This is an old picture of one of mine. It was grown from a seedling in full sun

    Yeah Mike, that's a perfect looking fenestralis in a great looking setting.

    Hi Mohsen.

    It was grown from a two strap seedling which I got from a lady at Pullenvale Brisbane, she imported 1000 seeds and was reluctant to sell me any. I guess I was persistence and she sold me a few all of which died except this one. I am not sure when they first arrived in Australia but this one must be one of the first group. Of course there are bigger ones up north that I have seen, but not that much bigger considering my climate.
