I have several favorites in the different genres of food, but today, I think I found my new all-time favorite.  This is indeed one special hot sauce.  What is your favorite?

My favorite is Frank's hot sauce. But I like all hot sauces, just depends on what food I am having!

I have not tried this one, which is something I don't often say about pepper sauces available in the U.S.  But I am not on the hunt.

Actually, I want flavor, but if it comes with some pain, so be it.  But it has to be worth the flavor.   I have not tried the Bhut Jolokia or Carolina Reaper sauces, but I am thinking they are gimmick sauces.  But who knows, I could be wrong.

It's actually very good. High river makes some great sauces.

Tabasco, Sriracha, Sriracha paste, Valentina, Evangeline from St. Martinville LA.  No order, depends on what you're eating.  I've never tried the Tabasco family reserve, but I will ....soon.

Tapatío is a California sauce with a Guadalajaran name. Valentina is made in Guadalajara.  Just sayin.

Nice, but no green sauce.  Might I recommended Cholula.  http://www.cholula.com/green_pepper.html

Agreed, homemade is the best, but it's a dying art.  I've a lot of friends whose parents and grandparents knock it out of the park, but when we try, it's just not as good. Go figure.

I have a friend whose parents eschew the blender and stick with the molcajete. It's as close as you can get to eating love!

I had some Carolina Reaper beef jerkey. The taste was there. The pain definitely came along with it. All the way to the toilet. :bemused:

Definitely, the best salsa always comes from a molcajete.

I'm good with the red Cholula, did not know they even made a green. I shall seek it out. Still haven't found the "Reserve" Tabasco yet, but I live in a small town with sucky grocery stores.  Did get some Tapatío, and yes it is good. Thanks to all.

I bought some Tapatio yesterday, but haven't had a chance to try it yet.  I think the only place you can get the Tabasco Family Reserve is to physically go to the Tabasco Company Store.   I don't live far from there and can stop by on the way home from work one day.

I got on the Tabasco website and they have started selling it online now, at $10 a pop.  I have to admit that Tabasco original red is hands down my favorite pepper sauce.  Both of my parents grew up in that area so I've been eating the stuff, along with pickled tabasco peppers, since I was weaned. If you think it's worth the coin I'll get a few bottles me and my parents both.  Dang, that would have made the perfect Christmas present for my parents!

Its very weird, most of the time I don't want any hot sauce. I prefer my foods "cool" like with sour cream or fresh cheese. But once in a while I do want some heat and I do surprise my sauce loving friends how much I can stand. I also learned the trick if I was too worried to have a pack of sugar, before and if needed after to cut the pain.

I did quite like some "green" sauce from Tabasco some time ago. I first saw it in a BBQ place and liked it on their BBQ sandwiches..rarely see it anywhere.

I do some experiments and learning in my garden with palms so you don't have to experience the pain! Look at my old threads to find various observations and tips!

Awesome, that is the same price at the company store.   Aged 8 years instead of 3, and will select peppers grown on the island.  Most of those are used for seedstock to be grown in central america.  It has a richer tastes and is considerably hotter than the normal, but it won't burn off you tongue.

IMHO, those folks give Pepper Sauces and other Pepper products a bad rap.   It should be about the flavor, not how hot you can make it, the pepper or the sauce.
