What Is A Good Heat Mat For Germinating Palms?

Featured Replies

What is a good heat mat for germinating palm seeds? I have been looking into buying one but I never got the chance to, now I am really thinking about getting one. What is a good one for palms seeds? Thank you for reading!

I have one from Apollo Horticulture and it has worked perfectly for almost a year now. Came bundled with a guage and sensor, has sprouted a few palms already in these few months.

Just wish my sumawongii would pop up!

I looked at it, I might get one, once I get one, get ready for threads of me asking how to use it! Well, if I get stuck with something, I will read the instructions! Thank you!

I ordered a 10 dollar Apollo heat mat from Amazing, it had great reviews. It just arrived, I will be making a thread in "Palms In Pots" in a little bit asking people how to properly use it, no instructions said anything about palms. Thank you for telling me about this heat mat!

Plug the mat into the temperature controller, adjust the temp of the controller by holding down the set temp button until the number starts flashing, set the number using up and down arrows, then press the set temp button to confirm the temperature.

I can write better instructions tonight when i have the device in front of me, but im sure youll figure it out!

Mine is the super super basic one, there is no tempature controller. I just plug it in and it heats up. I used a thermometer and on all parts of the top it got to 91 degrees F, so I think thats pretty good. I was planning on setting it on a section of my counter and putting a lot of plastic baggys (thicker and larger ones) filled with palm seeds on damp paper towels. I am thinking that the tempature in the baggy will be at least a good 86 degrees F. But thank you for replying anyway! I may get one in the future with tempature control... Once I try this one out for awhile! I am terrible and germinating palms seeds using the baggy and towel method, I am hoping the heat does the trick.

Check out my post in "Palms In Pots" I have a picture of it there!
