I'm back in Houston continuing the job search, I took a little break out to Galveston and was impressed with the palmage out there, even some surprises.

Not a great photo out the car window but there were a handful of foxtails, not the greatest specimens but impressive that they are there

Lots of nice 19th century architecture, very mature CIDP's impressive that they have survived so long

Looks like they probably have Orlando type winters, with those zone 10 palms (foxtail, plumeria, ficus, royals) nipped in a year like 2010.

Bonus round: ran into some native Sabal minor on a nature trail in Houston, I love seeing palms in habitat, even the humble Sabal minor!
