More heavy rain in Texas

Recommended Posts

Well it hard to believe but parts of Texas has been hit with another 10-20 inches of rain. I was on the edge of the rain this time and only got 4 inches but just to the north of Houston and west.

It has only been about 6 weeks since the last 10-20 inch rain event hit in much of the same area but just a little further south.

More rain is forecast next week with continued heavy moister flowing into the area.

I am beginning to think that the climate has become radicalized. We just came out of a severe drought a couple of years ago and now the floods. What is next, a new ice age or death valley like heat?

Looks like the rain is not stopping anytime soon...unseasonably cool too! Not complaining at all - vegetable garden is looking great.

Another 0.87" here over a 6 hour period today.  That makes about 5" total this week and there are places with 3-4x as much precip this week. Nonetheless i rather have flooding than a drought anytime.

Well the rain just won't quit here in Houston but we aren't getting the worst of it.

In the last month we have gotten about 10-20 inches across Harris county (Houston), not s much as parts of the state. The rains have been so widespread that the larger rivers are flooding.

Rainfall for Houston in the last month:

No relief yet in site as more rain is moving into Houston this mourning.

The reports of tragedy after tragedy come in over the news feeds.

Hope you're spared.

Those numbers in the upper map are yearly rainfall totals here, in "average" years. In one day? Yike.

Fortunately, I live in "high and dry" part of town if there is such a thing in the bayou city. But the constant wet and little sun has resulted in an explosion of snails that find my dozen young potted Chamaedorea Woodsonias and C. plumosas very tasty and are shredding the leafs. I just picked off about 25 snails a few minutes ago.
