After a relative dry winter it looks like the heavy rains are about to move in again. Deep tropical moister is set to move into Texas.

The forecast shows over the next few days 10 inches will fall over parts of Texas. A ten inches rain over a few days will probably not cause much flooding but if the most rain that falls moves a little farther east to Houston and falls over a shorter period there could be some flooding.

After 84 inches fell in 2015 at my place, this does not deem so extreme anymore.

The rain just started here about 30 minutes ago and is still going.  We could use a 3-4" for sure as we were getting to be on the dry side.

We could use the rain here also. I see that the Dallas area is getting hit already with the heavy rain after a bout with the hail stones.

On thing that is bothersome with heavy rains is the mosquito that carries the Zika virus and that can cause birth defects will have a lot of standing water in which to breed.

Yikes!

Houston is under a flash flood warning for Monday morning. The TV is reporting at 4:30am that 14-16 inches of rain has fallen in the last few hours in the northern and western part of Houston. The rains are moving slowly toward the S.E. so the rest of town will get it before long. All the rain that falls in Houston or west of town has to flow thru the Houston bayous that empty into Galveston Bay.

Ed, been seeing pictures of the Flooding via W.U. and Accuweather.. Hope everyone there is ok. Crazy how this has happened 2 years in a row now.

Seems like it has been raining nonstop since about 9-10pm Sunday night. Crazy rainfall in Katy, atleast 10 inches...

Everything is fine in Houston after another 10 to 20 inch overnight rain.

 

Most people have learned to adapt to our yearly 500 year rains.

 

Even the birds are starting to adapt.

 

Long time residents don't have a  seem to have a problem at all.

Only 2.35" over night at the house.  3.77" total the last few days up here.

Just spoke to my brother who lives in the northern suburbs and he lost power at about 4am and little chance of it being restored soon. His house is high and dry but his neighborhood is surrounded by water.He cant go more than a few blocks without hitting streets with 2-3 feet of fast moving water. He saw a man in a kayak cruising down the jogging track behind his house.
