Wow, nice big nuts!  How big are they, about 2ft. long and about 14 to 15 inches in diameter?  I have seen photos of a really tall variety (about 130 ft. tall) in Sri Lanka that produces HUGE coconuts about 28 to 30 inches long and about 16 to 17 inches in diameter that were in a horticultural book in a professor's office at the university I attended.  I wonder if this is the same variety?

this is not that verity this is called king coconut here.(im not sure this is malay gold or king) even many people call 'malay gold' as king coconut here, but true 'king coconut' variety is dark orange , large and very sweet water unlike malay gold, it used in ayurvedic medicine

we had some of the 'tall coconut' you mentioned in one of our garden, very tall and large round fruits, trunk also little large than regular ones little rare here after all these cross breeds i will post a pic if i saw it

another new veraity here is 'urban' coconut , developed for urban houses for landscaping and water, very small structured  tree compared to others fruiting started at 3 years

Ahamed,

This is what they sell on the road side everywhere in Sri Lanka, I always believed it was King coconut for a nice drink. :)

So if I understood correctly these coconuts and King coconuts have sweet water, unlike the Malayan Gold which does not? Perhaps this is a king coconut then, how does the water compare to the Green malayan?
