Soil Moisture Sensors

Featured Replies

I have recently been searching for a new irrigation controller system, both for my garden and my hobby nethouse where i keep my palms i am raising from seed. The reasons i decided to change the system are various with most important to be the better water management i would like to have, a long overdue expansion to the available irrigation zones and the need to feed the control freak inside me :)

During the search, i have come across many solutions at reasonable prices, but what drew my attention instantly was the WIFI Soil Moisture Sensors. I find the idea of using such sensors fascinating the least, as it would achieve water savings, fertiliser savings, better growth overall and healthy plants. Especially plants in containers can benefit the most, as containers usually have the most problems with irrigation.

Is anyone using such sensors? Home use or nursery, the idea is the same.

Do you think it is worth investing in such sensors?

I have seen what you are talking about and if I had the extra money I might try one out.. Although there are systems that are sold to work with irrigation timers.. it might be useful in setting up a watering regimen for larger areas where conditions are the same. I have seen what you are talking about- but I think those are for a localized area.. but then again the irrigation timered might be just the same..

If it will save your seedlings in a hot spell it might be a wise investment.. I think they have irrigation timers that are wi-fi enabled also..
