We got a plant from Samarakoon in 2013, I am looking forward to seeing it starting to trunk.

Such a pretty jungle! :) Can you see any red at the base of the stems at all yet? I have a few tiny C. renda -- most all green still.

Kim,

This one is Cyrtostachys elegans, the same like in Samarakoon 's garden: green trunk but so elegant when tall!

Philippe, nice palms and glad you are growing.

Here are a couple of photos of C. elegans here in Hilo, which have really grown in the last 5 years.

Many thanks Tim,

Yes, I am impressed by the growth of these palms when they enjoy the place.

It seems that yours in Hilo grow as fast as Samarakoon's palms do:

the spacing of the leaf scars show very impressive growth that is a beautiful palm thank you both for posting

Oh, silly me, I read Cyrtostachys and immediately think red! :lol2: And I HAVE a C. elegans, I should know better! Mine is quite small, but planted where it will rise elegantly above a few Pelagodoxa henryana and Reinhardtia latisecta. Beautiful palm!

Nice to see this rarely talked about palm. And I will add, mine is now pushing about 12' and has been planted out for several years now. But what I found out is, it's very cold hardy and has seen low 30's a few years back. Unlike his " red sister". Lol.

Also....this is one of the parent's that has produced the famous Cyrtostachy sp. Hybrids that are well sought after.
