I've really taken a liking to coconut water recently, I love the mildness of it, no sugar blast or caffeine kick or anything. I've noticed the carton brands taste better than the cans. The two most available carton brands, at least at the local Walmart are Vita Coco and Zico Water. Both of these are not made from concentrate, one of the big differences is that Vita Coco ads a small amount of fruit sugar, less than 1% (which seems to make quite a difference in the flavor).

So who has an opinion of the best coconut water brand? Is there another one that you prefer?

I'm jealous, we don't have a Costco near here and I've looked at the local Sam's Club, no coconut water of any kind :-( I have wondered what the price would be at Costco/Sam's Club, because it's normally about $4 a liter.

I'm only posting this in case I've had the bad luck to always get a crap can of coconut water, but...

On the half dozen occasions that I have had a can or carton of coconut water (varied brands) it always tastes almost burned or toasted. It does not compare favorably in any way to fresh coconut vitae.

Is it supposed to taste like that?
