FULL SUN SEEDLINGS or not?

I soaked mine for 48 hours at 70-75 F...  Next time I will try soaking at warmer temps...

I decided to move the plants out of the germinator today and bring them to the shadehouse...  In the move, some of the plants overturned in the soil and I discovered about 1/4 of the P. vinifera and a couple of the P. ekmanii had air root pruned themselves at the point where the swelling on the radical occures and the green shoot comes out (zero root growth!).  I think this is because my media mixture dries out too quickly in the top of the soil column...  I think the plants will be ok and will live off the nutrients contained in the seed until it is forced to try to grow roots again, but when I repot them into seperate containers I will use a layer of topsoil maybe an inch to two inches that will be similar to the caribbean mix but more peat...  like 50% crushed coral 25% of sand and of peat...  That should hold a bit more water and be a bit more condusive to starting healthy root growth...  So Ray, like I said earlier the media was extremely experimental.

Still nothing in the mail.  This may be a case of waiting for the pot to boil yada, yada, yada.

Ray, Where the heck are your seeds?

I bet he has them by now. The ones I ordered in late march came  10 days ago.

I finally got them last week.  They are potted up in a one gallon with some pretty good draining mix (Miracle Grow amended with some perlite and pine bark).  I put a Ziploc bag over the top and fastened it around the waist of the container with a rubber band.  It's like a mini- greenhouse now.  My expectations are very low.

Ray I think they will do ok. They seemed to like high humidity when germinating. Were your seeds shipped from Vermont? Mine were, they have always been shipped from Germany in the past. My seedlings are doing ok, still blades of grass, but much longer. (6-7 inches) No second leaf yet.

Yes Mike, Vermont.  I thought that was the strangest thing.  Anyway, it took them so long to ship these, I fear they are no longer viable.  I enclosed them in the Ziploc to keep the humidity high.  I'll keep you guys posted if any do pop up.

Mike, just an update on the P. ekmanii...  I am down to 14...  2 of which have done nothing or are waning...  I think they may be dampening off...  Worst part is, I have them in a spot were they don't recieve irrigation!  I would think that my crushed coral mixture would be fast draining enough but it seems the case may be otherwise...  I really think these things are built for growing on solid limestone...  I'm getting ready to pot up my largest one that I purchased... got some really coarse crushed coral from the aquarium shop and am gonna mix it with large chunks of coral that I'll collect on the beach...  An updated photo...
