After fermentation, toddy is an alcoholic beverage, but just from the first harvest of the morning, it's a lovely sweet drink.

Boiled and reduced it is jaggery, tasty sugar.

    Very interesting thanks for posting you got to love that ladder.

    Your a better man than me. I could not imagine climbing the bamboo ladder that tall. Have a toddy for me! Thanks for posting. 40 liters?

    Don't believe I climbed this ladder. The man who climbed is a very kind neighbor in the village, like all srilankan people are kind.

    I wasn't aware it was harvested so high on the palm, for some reason I always assumed it was done like a maple tree, at the base. Now I know I'll never collect any from mine.
