Another red leaf post

Featured Replies

I realize there have been a countless red leaf posts posted on this forum, but thought I would post yet another. Its my rostered day off today and thought I might give the garden an early morning hose, when i saw the new leaf of my chambeyronia macrocarpa starting to open up. I probably get about 4 new leafs a year, and gotta admit I get pretty excited every time another leaf opens up like this one. hope you enjoy.

Wow, Pete. I'd never seen a red leaf on a Ptychosperma frond before (and we have several palms in that genus). The leaf shape and color together make it one of the best red leaf pics ever! Lee

I'll throw this one in, although it's more maroon than red. Heterospathe of some sort, never have been able to ID it.

Nice pic Tim, mate that backdrop of your garden looks unreal, what's the yellow palm to the left of your Heterospathe ?

Hey Paul, those are a couple of Verschaffeltia's next to the Heterospathe. Here's a shot from the other direction.

... must be that time of the month because mine are red too. I will have to take some pix.

Here's one of my Chambeyronia hookeri, 1 year out from a 5 gallon:

It's in Leilani Estates, it's still a jungle though- not developed. We had to untangle the vines from this emerging leaf. I guess we got there at the right time

First time post of a red leafed palm for me by the way, nice to be able to contribute.
