As most of you already know, we had a great IPS board meeting in the Peruvian Amazon. I won't add too many words, but I'll post a few of the photos Lindsey and I grabbed (in no particular order)....

First up is Attalea, which we saw a lot of:

There were quite a few Agouti in the area (these are a very large relative to the rat).

How about some bats?

More palms? Maybe a couple Cryosophila?

Samantha the baby tapir was also a big hit!

The Mauritias were everywhere, and they were fantastic!

We spent one morning at a salt lick with hundreds of parrots.

Giant river otters are highly endangered, but we were lucky enough to spend about an hour watching these four playing in the water!

Last one for now. This is from an observation tower overlooking Lake Sandoval, and I think that's an Iriartea on the right (but it could be a Socratea).

Ok, one more set. We saw titi monkeys a few times, but this family of three was nice enough to let us watch them for quite a while.

Great pictures. But I am sure this is just a tease. You had to have taken several hundred pictures there. I take more pictures than this at Home Depot.

Caiman, both during the day and at night. At one point we actually saw a large caiman eating a smaller one, but unfortunately I didn't get any photos of that...

Socratea

We saw a lot of birds, but I now can't remember what any of them are...

Chamaeadorea angustisecta were amazing! But unfortunately _none_ of them had ripe seeds...

We spent a lot of time on boats.

There were a lot of big trees, and big rivers.

Syagrus and Euterpe

When we arrived at Inkaterra they told us there were no more rooms... So we had to stay in a suite for four nights.... Yes, that is a pool in our room...

Prehistoric hoatzins

What, you want more palms? We need some lunch first...

Some Iriarteas, all from above.

More assorted wildlife, including some turtles for Bob.

They had some nice Royals in the center of Puerto Maldonado.

We saw quite a few red howler monkeys. These guys are HUGE. And RED. And AWESOME.

We also saw a lot of Geonomas. These guys are red and awesome, but not huge...

Like everyone else who wasn't in Peru, we are delighted to see your photos and hope to get there someday! Thanks so much for posting.

Jack, Thanks for the great pictures - brought back lots of fun memories. And you and Lindsey sure lucked out with your accomodation at Inkaterra! I am posting a few (of the MANY) photos I took. Most of the Directors, with spouses & partners, arrived at Puerto Maldonado early afternoon on October 10th, and half of the group was fortunate to get to ride in this vehicle!

After a 20 minute ride through the city of Puerto Maldonado (think Wild West meets the Amazon) we boarded a boat for the second part of our journey to Inkaterra - 45 minutes down the Madre de Dios river.

On our first morning at Inkaterra Reserva Amazonica, many of us took a boat ride on Lake Sandoval. Light showers, but we still really enjoyed the scenery and thousands of VERY tall Mauritia flexuosa.
