I do normally spray( 5 liter bottle) Phostrogen Fertilizer plant food and spike my palms with Jobs spike. However. I noticed my garden lacks trace elements supplement. I did purchase a Foliar type Fertilizer to add in the trace elements.( "Fetrilon Combi 2" is the product name)

However it is still not clear from the instruction what are the portions or grams(Table spoon) per Liter I need to mix it for my palms and plants. Does anyone have any experience with portions needed in this case?

Attached is the product information(fetrilon combi 2). Appreciate your support and feedback

"Experience obtained so far
shows that 100 - 200 g of
Fetrilon-Combi should be
added to 1000 l of irrigation
water every 10 to 20 days. "
thats off the label they are saying for best results, add to the soil. Use the above rates for watering into the soil. They are saying use either 100 (Weakest ) to 200 (strongest) grams (weigh it) and add to 1000 liters. Since I am assuming that you don't have a container (water tank) 1000 litres large (which is 264 gallons), you have to reduce the amt of the fert and the water to a smaller amt. So for 11 gallons of water (2.9 litres), you would add 2.28 grams. If you want 5 gallons, or 1.32 liters (-like in a 5 gallon bucket), you cut the grams in half-to 1.14 grams-thats the weakest solution. If you want the stronger solution double the gram amt that is added to the water.
Or you can dig some holes and pour in this solution-" In crops showing a severe
chlorosis or in plant species
that are highly sensitive (e.g.
ornamentals), application to
the soil is preferable. 1 l of a
0.5 - 1 % solution (5 - 10 g
of Fetrilon-Combi per 1 l of
water) per square metre is
poured into 1 - 2 holes about
20 cm deep"
So-for a .5% solution, you would weigh out 5 grams of Fetrilon and add to 1 liter of water and then pour down 1-2 holes about 20 cm deep. If you want the stronger solution, use 10 grams/1 liter of water. 10 grams translates to .7 Tablespoon (you don't have to weigh out this small amt-unless you have a scale that measures grams)

Pardon me if Im incorrect but I always thought 1 gallon= 3.79L= 8pints= 4quarts= 16cups= 128fl oz.

I use Alaska Liquid Kelp Fertilizer as foliar & root feed 2tablespoons(30mL) per gallon of H2O.

I would also mix molasses with this mix.

Anyone else with a concoction to share??

Happy Planting.

Re...use 10 grams/1 liter of water. 10 grams translates to .7 Tablespoon (you don't have to weigh out this small amt-unless you have a scale that measures grams)

1 tablespoon is 15mL = 3teaspoons.

So, 0.7 of a tablespoon is 10.5mL...roughly over 2teaspoons.

Anyone with a medicine dropper/measuring cup?

I have used this product in the past with good results. http://www.spray-n-growgardening.com/. If I still have the budget funds, I would still be using it.

Great catch on units SanDimas!

Kahili,

Are portions mentioned above for Soil spray or Foliar spray? Would you know if I can mix it with phostrogen plantfood as one off fix in bottle pump spray ?

Nakheel-all I did was read the label that you provided a link for. They do not give rates for foliar spray. They said " for best results-use in the soil" .In other words, the plant will do a better job taking it up through its roots than through the stomata. They say to reapply every 10-20 days. They give two different ways to apply and the rates that you would use for either way (drenching the soil or digging some holes and pouring the solution in. They also give a weaker and stronger rate per method of application.

I would call the company to ask them before I mixed it with another fertilizer.

The way I understand foliar feeding is similar to systemic or topical application of medication.

You can apply it directly to the site of infection or take it via your circulatory system.

In the case of foliar feeding, the leaves, the plant cells, the mitochondria is the engine of the plant that

produces starch and photosynthesis of plant which produces growth.,

therefore feeding the plants directly to the leaves and the site of photosynthesis.

If you go deeply into plant mechanics, foliar feeding induces osmosis(high to low conc.) of water and nutrients via the roots, the stem and the leaves.

So much science mechanics involved and foliar feeding usually is best early in the morning or close to sundown where photosynthesis is about to begin or just finish.

I use the same concentration for root or foliar feed.

Cheers.

No I do spike them for NPK Slow release fertilizer. Spray them with phostrogen and now trailing trace element nutrient spray....

Thanks guys for the feedback,,,,!

You use spray-n-grow on palms?

I do, when I get going I just use it on everything. I use their Coco-Wet product as a spreader sticker since palms tend to have a waxy surface. I also take care to hit the undersides of leaves too.

Also, A few years ago, I got a little scientific on things with Spray-n-grow, and also with Diehard Biorush on existing plantings and Diehard Palm Transplant on new plantings. The difference has been very noticeable.

In my Zone 9a climate, I need every little hedge I can get. Those products have made a lot of difference in health and survival.

Interesting.... I guess the spreader does the magic for palms then.....retaining the nutrients on the palm leaves?

In addition looking at the product( Spray-N-Grow) it does not specify the micronutrient % or break down of trace element..! Did you have success in Palms? This is not a fertilizer I guess which has the (NPK) its just the trace element right....

The DieHard Biorush seems like a great product.

Im using liquid kelp fert as recommended by JMarcus either as foliar or root feed.

If the spray falls off the leaf, I guess it becomes a root drench.

Has anyone use carbonated mineral water as foliar feed?

The hydroponic culture is claiming its a good source of carbon dioxide

for your plants used in plant metabolism?

Any thoughts on the matter?

Cheers.

The Spray-n-grow has a companion product named Bill's Perfect Fertilizer.   I use them as a combo.
