I was in Paris, Texas (2 hours NE of Dallas), this past weekend and this is the only palm I saw. It is at a Mexican restaraunt. I'm not familiar with this one. Its Gotta be cold tolerant!

Thats what Trachycarpus fortunei looks like. And they look great in the snow. We have a subspecies here in FL known as Trashycrapus misfortunei which, ironically, revert to the nicer species if transplanted to a location with suitable soil and climate.

Winters are subtropical with occasional frosts and freezes. Tropical cyclones happen.

We have a few Royal palms in the warm microclimates but Coconuts freeze.

I am a Kayaker, Hiker, Bicyclist, and amateur Photographer that loves the outdoors.  

My brother lives in Northern Va and we visited his beach house in Rehoboth Beach,, there was one planted west of town --- theres a bunch at the National arboreteum in DC. They are pretty tough

Thanks for the ID. I thought it was a pretty palm. Kind of out of place since I really didn't see too much in the way of ornamental plants. Saw a lot of soybean, hay, and cattle though...

There are very few things that qualify as bulletproof here, but a Trachycarpus fortunei in mixed sun is pretty hard to beat. With more shade, they tend to stretch out into a real pretty palm. Sometimes, they even look spectacular in full sun.
