Look out New Caledonia, Cyclone Sandra is coming your way! this was a low that formed off the queensland coast this week and was a chance to hit the southern/central queensland coast next week. IT has now decided not to turn right but keep going the the northern tip of New Caledonia.

tropicbreeze has been posting updates in the weather section of this system http://www.palmtalk.org/forum/index.php?/topic/34529-sth-hemisphere-cyclone-season-2012-13/

Im not too educated on New Caledonia but it seems a little inhabited on this part of the coast (correct me if im wrong), which is a good thing. What palm species inhabit this area?
