After The Rain

Featured Replies

It's amazing what a little rain does to palm growth. A couple of days of rain and everything pops new leaves. We are having great palm weather lately with warm temps and high humidity....all of the palms are loving it!

Caryota gigas new leaf has the leaflets folded in readiness to open like it's brother lower centre of the pic. Here's a selection of pics of this palm showing it's locale with other plants. It'll be a monster one day with bamboo as backdrop. I've been told I need more red in the garden, I'm not so sure, I don't mind a train crash of green.

Thanks Cindy, noted.. :D , and here's a couple more from this morning, this is really exciting times for palm nuts, so many palm trees bursting with new growth, and we are able to go out in the yard and view/observe up close finally after all those sodden days. I bet Daryl and Mike and all others from around Sth East Qld and Northern NSW have hundreds of palms doing the same. NQ is always bursting with new growth so they don't count

Here's what I did...

Potted up a batch and placed them in water in a plastic container. Another little group I bagged in hessian and placed on the edge of the pond and one more in a pot I placed in the oxygenator plant pot in the centre of the pond. All a total experiment, as soon as things get colder then I'm up for a new hot house I suppose..
