Wanted to share a few shots of Cyphokentia Cerifera revealing a new crownshaft and some shots of Cyphokentia Macrostachya. When young, these two palms are pretty much identical apart from their striking colour. At maturity , these palms both have a full white wax powder coated crownshaft

Two incredible palms! It must have taken a very long time to get them that size...Good looking family too.

This made my week. Thanks Pete. Did you plant your C elegans around the same time? Just curious to get an idea on speed comparisons.

Cheers Daryl,Aaron, Palmfreek,Len and John for comments. Len, all the New Caledonian palms in this front garden were planted pretty much at the same time but the Cyphophoenix elegans was of a larger size when planted. The larger C Macro was 2 years ago of the same size as the C Cerifera but has since doubled its height and girth thanks to a few attributes. The smaller Macro will be dug and transplanted to a more prominent location very soon to allow it to grow to its full potential. Heres a few more pics. Pete

Wow, is that macro entering a strong growth phase? It seems so much bigger than when you first amazed us with pictures - maybe just a year or so ago now?

Yes Rich, the bulbous trunk is a great sign, the Cerifera only in recently started to bulge so they are certainly on there merry way, these palms certainly love lots of rain, rain, rain and have responded astonishingly with the help of our fert switch ( nutricote total)

Man I love that splash of white at the top end of the leaf bases, thanks Pedro, you're still on my hit list to visit one day.

Happy Gardening

I do some experiments and learning in my garden with palms so you don't have to experience the pain! Look at my old threads to find various observations and tips!

:) Thanks Bob, Bob, i think me giving them more light along with a few good wet years has really kicked them into gear, something i mentioned above is my fert switch to Nutricote Total, the NC Palms seem to really love this.

Oh yeah, just luv how Shakira Rani is on her tippy toes to make herself look taller! :D does that mess up the scale picture? lol

Yeh it does Bill, :D Wow,I found some old pics today and will have to scan them, this is great news for anyone with a small Cypho Macro worried about them being slow. The 1999 pic show it as a skinny scrappy plant with a pencil thick stem no more than 5 inches high. Anyhow the next pic that totally blew me away was taken on the day of my 40th birthday in 2005, the palm would be have a stem of no larger than 1 foot, much thicker though .. the elegans is also in the shot back then.. the last 6 years has been outstanding growth, for this palm.Yes i will admit the first ten years were slow, but thats history :D I cant scan the pics till tonight so will post then or tomorrow.Wanted to share this news.
