Here is one more that I found on my computer. It was taken about a month ago.

This is the third year in a row that my Attalea cohune has flowered, and it still has no trunk.

That is truly one of the iconic palms in CA for sure. I think of Pauline's Dypsis decipiens, Mardy's Dypsis mananjarensis and your Geonoma undata as few of my top Cali palms.

Great thread! These are my favorite kinds of pics to take in the garden. This perspective is most of why I find palms so beautiful, the colors and structures you see on a closer look or extreme angle. I'm really enjoying the photos you all have posted.

Ever tried taking a soft scrubbing brush and water to the brown scurf? Not that I go in for that sort of grooming but I know some do this to Basselinias with dramatic effect.

Thanks to all for the kind remarks. I don't groom any aspect of the palms other than to cut off all the newly exposed spadices on my nikau palms. Perhaps I Should try cleaning the Geonoma leafbases!

Also, the reddish coloration changes dramatically through the lifespan of each leafbase, starting with a light pinkish tone when first exposed, then maturing to dark reddish, then to brown as the leafbase begins to absciss.
